FEEL THE PAIN ... Danny Guthrie reacts after being sent off for horror challenge
DANNY GUTHRIE will NOT recieve any extra punishment for his horror tackle on
Craig Fagan.
Hull striker Fagan suffered a broken leg that will put him out for upto three
months after Guthrie's challenge.
The Newcastle midfielder, 21, was sent off for the offence during the Magpies'
defeat to Hull at St James' Park on Saturday.
But despite calls for further action against Guthrie, the ex-Liverpool ace
will only serve a standard three-match ban.
An FA spokesman said: "Every sending off carries an automatic sanction under
the current regulations.
"The FA doesn't have the power to extend automatic suspensions.
"The only circumstances in which we could take any further action would be to
issue an additional charge against a player.
"This occurs only in exceptional cases, such as Ben Thatcher's challenge on
Pedro Mendes in 2006."
