Cagliari out of Coppa Italia

Post by true_frnd on Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:25 am

Reggina demolished Cagliari 4-0 while Catania also thrashed Padova by four goals in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia.

The
Sardinians have been struggling in Serie A with two straight defeats
and are now out of the Coppa Italia in humiliating fashion.

Fabio
Ceravolo and Franco Brienza each netted a brace in the 4-0 demolition
job at the Stadio Granillo, as Cagliari simply fell to pieces in the
second half.

Ceravolo’s opener was a peach, as he flicked the ball over Astori and placed a precise angled drive into the net.

It
piles the pressure on Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri, who must be
feeling the heat already, but Reggina sweep through for a date with
Udinese in the next phase.

Catania also registered a 4-0 result
against Serie C outfit Padova. Romanian international Nicolae Dica
netted his first Italian goal at the Stadio Massimino.

Taka Morimoto got a rare appearance and made the most of it with two goals before Sabato’s splendid volley.

Catania qualify to take on Juventus in the fifth round.

The rest of the fourth round fixtures are to be played next month.
